40 year old Kristy thinks she's made the biggest mistake of her life.
When Kristy visits her mum Gwynn at her rural home one weekend, she struggles to embrace the last-minute baby shower that is thrust upon her. In fact, the whole impending arrival of the (don’t say it)… is causing Kristy major anxiety, and major IBS.
Kristy’s friends do all they can to keep Kristy’s spirits high, as well as deflect Aunty Lou’s archaic opinions on what makes a ‘normal family’.
Kristy’s oldest and dearest friend, Emma, makes a surprise appearance and she finally feels she has an ally who might support her, unconditionally, with the massive life choice she’s made. But Emma is navigating her own struggles with her recent divorce and the breakdown of her relationship with her 18-year-old son.
With one stepping into motherhood, and the other stepping away from it, both women realise that their ideals of what makes the perfect family, and mother, need to change.
